The Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) system is an MLAA initiative that allows people with disability access to dedicated public toilet facilities, including local government facilities, elevators at railway stations, facilities in National Parks playgrounds etc.
MLAK was launched back in mid 1994 as a joint venture between the MLAA(Master Locksmiths Association Australia) Pittwater Council and ACROD before being implemented Nationwide.
MLAK keys are a Inline six pin restricted master key where its designed to incorporate a high level of key control with Master key or grand master keys(GMK) that can open all locks on a site, even if different areas have different dedicated pass keys.
People with a disability are able to purchase an MLAK key that will open all doors, playground equipment, toilets, and other facilities fitted with a MLAK keyed lock that uses the restricted MLAK cylinder.
Local governments and disability organizations are also able to order discounted packs of 10 individual keys to support their management of accessible facilities and their clients.
